Our race car is probably the best advertisement we could ask for.

The car is based upon a 1967 VW Beetle body shell, although the roof, 1/4 panels and front scuttle are all that remains original factory metal. Underneath the shell and light weight fibre glass/carbon fibre body panels is roughly 55m of various size 4130 Chrome-moly tube, formed into a complete space frame chassis. The entire car was built in house here at Cotsweld Race Cars except for the final top coats of paint. (The original body was bought from a scrap yard for £5.00).

The engine still remains an air cooled flat four, however, using after market components, its now 3.5 litre with a rather large turbo. It runs on 100% methonal fuel via a mechanical injetion set up. At present the best time over the quarter mile is 9.21 seconds at 150mph with still lots more to come.

As you can see from the pictures, we are more than capable, here at Cotsweld Race Cars of handleing every aspect of race car fabrication to a very high standard.
